Sayre Smothers is a right cornerback who transferred to Buffalo from The Citadel. The Cincinnati native and La Salle High School graduate played one season at The Citadel, appearing in all 12 games in 2025. He recorded 29 tackles, two tackles for loss, and two pass breakups while returning a fumble 31 yards for a touchdown. Smothers earned SoCon All-Freshman Team honors and was a first-team All-League selection in high school. Standing 5'10" and weighing 160 pounds, he joined the Bulls as a sophomore transfer.
