Johnny Thompson Jr. is a running back from Canoga Park, California, who attended Oaks Christian High School. He was a recruiting services two-star recruit and ranked as the No. 83 prospect in California by Rivals. In high school, Thompson rushed for 1,964 yards and 25 touchdowns across his career while adding 37 receptions for 263 yards. He earned redshirt status as a true freshman at Kansas in 2023. In 2024, he played in two games with five carries for 32 yards. During the 2025 season, Thompson appeared in four games for the Jayhawks, carrying 19 times for 75 yards, including a nine-carry, 37-yard effort against Wagner. He is now a transfer at Ball State.
