The New Orleans native attended Isodore Newman High School, where he recorded 26 receptions for 420 yards and four touchdowns over three seasons. Hunter redshirted in 2022 before appearing in five games during the 2023 season, including the Alamo Bowl victory over Oklahoma. In 2024, he caught 35 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns across 12 games, posting a long reception of 45 yards. During the 2025 season, Hunter appeared in all 13 games with 27 receptions for 372 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 13.8 yards per reception.
