Clayton Smith is a right defensive end for Arizona State, standing 6'4" and weighing 255 pounds. Originally from Queen City, Texas, Smith was a four-star recruit in the class of 2021 and played his first two seasons at Oklahoma before transferring to the Sun Devils. He appeared in four games as a redshirt freshman in 2022 before missing time due to injury. In 2024, Smith appeared in all 14 games with 12 starts, recording 33 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 6.0 tackles for loss while logging 589 total snaps. Last season he posted 19 tackles and four sacks, including two against Mississippi State, in three starts. The NCAA granted Smith a sixth year of eligibility, allowing him to continue his college career with ASU.
