Alex Mitchell is a redshirt senior linebacker from Murfreesboro, Tennessee who transferred to App State from Middle Tennessee. Mitchell started four games during an abbreviated 2025 season at Middle Tennessee, recording 28 tackles and one forced fumble. Prior to that, he spent three seasons at Chattanooga (2022-24), where he appeared in 34 games and accumulated 101 tackles in 2024 alone. He was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Month early in the 2023 season and earned Academic All-District honors. At Riverside High School, Mitchell led his defense to a 10-2 record with five shutouts and was named Tennessee Mr. Football semifinalist.
