John Michael Schmitz is a center for the New York Giants, selected 57th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Minnesota product appeared in 28 regular-season games over two seasons, starting all of them at center. In 2023, his rookie year, Schmitz made 13 starts—the most by any NFL rookie at the position that season. During the 2024 campaign, he started the first 15 games before an ankle injury sidelined him for the final two contests. At Minnesota, Schmitz spent six seasons playing in 57 games with 35 starts, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors five consecutive years and first-team All-American recognition in 2022.
