Hammond Russell IV is a 6'4", 314-pound nose tackle from Columbus, Ohio, who attended Dublin Coffman High School. A three-star recruit in the 2021 class, Russell redshirted his freshman year at West Virginia in 2021 before appearing in two games. He earned Academic All-Big 12 Conference Second Team honors in 2023 as a redshirt sophomore, recording 10 tackles across 12 games. In 2024, he played in 13 games and posted 17 tackles, seven solo stops, three sacks, and 3.5 tackles for loss on 325 defensive plays. During the 2025 redshirt senior season at West Virginia, Russell started five games and appeared in nine total, finishing with 13 tackles including 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.
