Dave Herard is a safety from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who transferred to Western Kentucky from Virginia. At Stranahan High School, he earned three-star recruit status and played multiple positions defensively and on offense. During four seasons with the Cavaliers, Herard appeared in 20 games, including 11 contests in 2023 with seven starts, recording 40 tackles, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and two pass breakups in his final year. In 2024, his first season at WKU, he appeared in 12 games and finished with 17 tackles and a fumble recovery. During the 2025 season, Herard started 12 of 13 games, compiling 58 total tackles, three tackles for loss, four pass breakups, and one fumble recovery, earning All-Conference USA Second Team honors.
