Donovan Watkins is a safety from Winnsboro, South Carolina, who attended Fairfield Central High School before playing at Mercer. At the high school level, he recorded 55 tackles, two interceptions and one pass break-up as a senior. Watkins redshirted in 2023 while retaining freshman eligibility. He moved into the starting lineup as a redshirt freshman in 2024, compiling 22 tackles, one interception and eight pass breakups.
