Josh Smith is a 6'2", 234-pound linebacker from Irmo, South Carolina, who enrolled at South Carolina in January 2025. A three-star recruit ranked 863rd overall in the 2025 class, Smith graduated from Dutch Fork High School in December 2024 after leading the Silver Foxes to a 13-0 record and the 5A Division I state title. As a senior, he recorded 96 tackles (16 for loss), nine sacks, and six quarterback hurries, earning Midlands Defensive Player of the Year honors from The State. Smith appeared in limited action during his true freshman season, including late-game involvement in the win over Coastal Carolina, and was redshirted while being named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.
