William Nettles is a redshirt sophomore cornerback for SMU from Mesquite, Texas, where he attended Dallas Christian School. A three-star prospect rated by recruiting services, Nettles played multiple positions in high school before committing to SMU over Nebraska, Purdue, Baylor, and Boston College. In 2025, his first redshirt freshman season, he appeared in 13 games with seven starts, recording 37 total tackles (25 solo), four pass breakups, 0.5 sacks, and one interception against Missouri State on September 13.
