Ishmel Atkins is a 6'4", 200-pound left cornerback from Greensboro, North Carolina, who transferred to Sam Houston from Elon. At Northern Guilford High School, he recorded 80 tackles and two interceptions as a senior. During his four seasons with the Phoenix, Atkins played in all 12 games in 2025, his final year at Elon, earning second-team all-CAA honors at cornerback with three interceptions and nine passes defended.
