JJ Hirdes is an offensive lineman for the Illinois Fighting Illini standing 6'6" and weighing 295 pounds. A native of Coopersville, Michigan, Hirdes was a three-star recruit ranked #76 by recruiting services among offensive linemen in the 2025 class. He earned all-conference and all-region honors at Coopersville High School as a three-year letterwinner and also competed in track and field, winning a conference championship in the discus.
