Lyrik Pettis is a safety from Shelby, North Carolina, who attended Crest High School under head coach Greg Lloyd. A three-star recruit rated by recruiting services, Pettis lettered four seasons for the Chargers. As a senior, he recorded 43 tackles, three interceptions and one forced fumble while helping Crest win the NCHSAA 5A championship. During his junior year, Pettis tallied 76 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, two interceptions, one forced fumble and five pass breakups on defense; he also caught 12 receptions for 196 yards and one touchdown. Pettis also played basketball, averaging 16.8 points per game as a junior and serving as team captain as a senior. He joins Duke as a true freshman for the 2026 class. From Crest · Shelby, NC.
