A four-star recruit in the 2023 class, Hopkins played in three games on special teams for Colorado in 2023 before redshirting. In his redshirt freshman year at Charlotte in 2024, he appeared in eight games and recorded two receptions for eight yards while logging 24 snaps on special teams. In 2025, Hopkins played in four of the final six games after missing the season's first half with an injury, recording one catch for 23 yards against UTSA.
