Marquis Gillis is a running back for Arizona State from Milford, Delaware. At Milford High School, he rushed for more than 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns while also playing defensive back, recording three interceptions and over 100 tackles. He earned Delaware All-State honors and was named the Maxwell Award recipient as team MVP. At Delaware State, Gillis compiled 2,474 career rushing yards and 19 touchdowns, winning the 2022 MEAC Rookie of the Year. In 2025, he recorded 1,182 rushing yards (13th in FCS), nine rushing touchdowns, and 11 receptions for 98 yards with a touchdown, averaging 6.45 yards per carry and 98.5 yards per game.
