Jakob Gude is a safety for App State from Atlanta, Georgia. The redshirt sophomore transferred to the Mountaineers from UCF, where he appeared in six games as a true freshman in 2024, primarily on special teams. He played in the first four games of the 2025 season before preserving his redshirt. At Langston Hughes High School, Gude earned four-star status from Rivals and was ranked the 32nd-best prospect in Georgia. As a senior in 2023, he posted two interception returns for 85 yards and recorded 46 tackles. He contributed to a state championship team during his sophomore year.
